EXPERIMENTALS and ABSTRACTS
People To People: Dave Dixon (2013)
Documented the unique career of Coventry born Dave Dixon. Dave Dixon performs across the globe as an Elvis Presley impersonator, a career choice he fully embraces in his everyday life. This documentary gave Nick his first experience in documentary filmmaking, and although only 3 minutes in length, definitely gave Nick the eye for creativity in documentary production. Produced during BA Media Production Course.
Serenity (2016)
Whilst studying a masters degree in 21st Century Media Practice, Nick was offered the opportunity to travel to the Isle Of Raasay, Scotland. Whilst in Raasay, Nick was influenced by a number of experimental filmmakers, writers and poets. Once he captured the beautiful island during his stay, he reviewed his footage and put together an experimental piece that reflects the peacefulness of the island. Produced during MA 21st Century Media Practice course.
Tonal (2016)
The "Tonal" experimental piece focused on human body parts and facial features, whilst using the Studio Artist rotoscoping software. There was no narrative involved in the piece, it was merely an experiment, heavily influenced by an artist named Frank Auerbach. Using animation software was a new area for Nick to explore and one he very much enjoyed.
Produced during MA 21st Century Media Practice course.
KINO (2016)
The "Kino" project was Nick's first experimental project. This project aimed to look at the environment and vegetation in a new way. Nick explored the country, both in rural Warwickshire and the coastal county of Dorset. He used extreme close up camera angles using a macro lens to capture an image you simply wouldn't get with your own eyes. This visual experiment has no narrative, just strong, unique imagery that will generate your own thoughts.
Produced during MA 21st Century Media Practice course.
